Picked up this kids bench off a freecycle page, its wood was rotting, the bolts where rusted and and the iron sides had see better days.
It was my first woodworking project and also a first with my 3 year old ( not pictured for privacy reasons). I took apart the bench and measured up the wood, grinded the old bolts off as even WD 40s best efforts only helped remove a few of the screws and nuts and removed any lingering rust and flecking paint from the iron. Picked up some cheap precut pine and cut down to size and then we went to woodies to pick out paint, pink was the choice of the day so pink it was. A few new screws and bolts as well as a fresh paint job and hey presto we now have a sturdy piece of furniture the kids will get years out of and now my wife has agreed I can built shelves for the garage. Win.
