I use WD-40 for many little repairs around the house. I always have it to hand for crayon marks, squeaky doors, paint stains and removing sticky residue.
I had thought that the metal handle on my press had tarnished but it was actually sticky residue and it lifted instantly with WD-40. Plus it added shine, win-win!
